One of Guy Kawasaki's key ideas is that innovators need to 'jump to the next curve'. He gives the evolution of the ice business industry as an example: from ice harvesting during winter, to freezing water centrally in factories, to the development of refrigeration technology.
Identify an innovation in an area you are interested in and track its development over a period of time:
What, if any, large 'leaps' or radical changes can you see in the history of this innovation?
What smaller, incremental changes can you identify?
What changes could move this innovation to the next curve?
What incremental changes could help this innovation evolve?
