Sustainable innovation in agriculture & food production

An intensive six-day course aimed at increasing the capacities of practitioners to understand the current challenges to agriculture and the food industry arising from climate change and overpopulation and to find innovative solutions to these challenges by applying an integrated system approach.
Our programme will run on two story lines combining thematic expert sessions, site visits about sustainable food and agriculture, and applying different tools for systems innovation such as: stakeholder analyses, visioning, niche management, etc. Through action-based learning, you will acquire the skills with which to enhance your own projects in your particular field. The course is set in an innovative and creative environment, includes participants from various backgrounds, and is led by experienced coaches.
Bring your own case study!
Personalize our programme - bring your own work to the course by choosing a case study that describes a challenge from your professional life related to any sector of the agrofood industry. It can be a project that you are working on, or an idea that you wish to realize in the future. With the help of the case studies, you will be able to apply the new knowledge, tools and methods you receive during the Catalyst, and improve your capabilities solving other problems and challenges in your working environment.
What we offer:
Through the Catalyst training workshop you will learn state-of-the-art knowledge about the characteristics of the agrofood industry as well as strengthen your competencies to successfully lead an innovation Project in the sector.
In particular, you will:
- Learn how to better deal with the consequences of climate change in the agricultural sector and make the industry more climate-resilient.
- Improve and apply competencies to innovate and transform a project in a safe and supported environment under the guidance of coaches
- Understand international best practices by different stakeholders while receiving new perspectives
- Gain an insight into common EU regulations with country-specific information
- Meet and exchange ideas with all the main actors in the agriculture and food industry
- Engage in international networking Opportunities
Who can take part?
The programme is aimed at experienced professionals from the following sectors:
- Government, from agencies responsible for public policy-making
- Technology providers, business people, entrepreneurs from the agrofood industry
- Food manufacturing companies and their suppliers
- Representatives of rural areas: farmers, mayors
- Farmers’ associations, NGOs
- Consultants from social, financial and engineering fields
Fees and registration
Course fee: EUR 2,000.
- Course fees cover participation in the workshop, workshop material, food during the workshop and any site vists.
- A 50 % discount on the regular fee is available for Climate-KIC partners, public institutions, Climate-KIC alumni and NGOs.
- Participation can be cancelled free of charge until four weeks before the course. Fees already paid will be reimbursed. 50% of course fees are payable in case of cancellation later and up until one week before the course. Fees already paid will be reimbursed. Full fees apply in the case of cancellation less than one week before the course.
Grant applications are possible for participants of EIT Regional Innovation Scheme (EIT RIS) including residents of the following countries: Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, Latvia, Malta, Portugal, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
